Our Programs

Through established and new alliances throughout the region, volunteers of all ages and backgrounds can discover and connect with a growing number of service opportunities that match their interests, abilities and availability.

The Right Volunteer Opportunity for Everyone

Nonprofits and public agencies partner with Volunteer Los Angeles to bring the right volunteers in to support their programs. Because of our diverse programming, we serve as a conduit to a wide variety of volunteers.

Healthy Communities are Built Through the Transforming Efforts of Volunteers

HandsOn Volunteers connects volunteers to an exciting array of one-time and long-term volunteer opportunities. Whether a volunteer wants to invest a few hours, a few days, or several months, through HandsOn Volunteers we help them connect with a service opportunity that’s right for them.

Court Referred Community Service provides courts, probation departments, and judicial officials with a viable option of community service as an alternative to fines and incarceration for adults and youth. Court Referred Volunteers have the opportunity to make restitution to their community through meaningful service.

Disaster Volunteering programs build the infrastructure to efficiently place volunteers in the right place at the right time. Our programming is focused on two major initiatives:

  • Disaster Healthcare Volunteers is a Los Angeles County-wide initiative to register and credential medical, health, mental-health and traditional volunteers in advance of a large scale disaster or public health emergency. These volunteers will be deployed specifically to build up the County’s health care system in times of disaster.
  • Disaster Response Volunteers provides a go-to system in a disaster or emergency situation for any volunteer who wants to help, and for nonprofits and government agencies that need additional volunteer assistance.

Business Volunteering creates real impact through investment of employees’ time and talents. We facilitate done-in-a-day projects and – through a skills-based volunteering program to launch in mid-2012 – will manage in-depth and long-term service opportunities.

Agency Partnerships and Training builds the capacity of nonprofits and public agencies to more effectively engage volunteers.  Placing more than 80,000 volunteers at over 800 agencies each year, our programs’ variety and depth allow us to facilitate effective volunteer placements. We also provide both in-depth and overview-level volunteer management training for nonprofits and public agencies.
